Join us for a screening of this documentary that resurrects the buried history of the outrageous, often brilliant women who founded the modern women's movement from 1966 to 1971. They said 'the personal is political' and made a revolution: in the bedroom, in the workplace, in all spheres of life. Called threatening by the FBI, yet ignored in many histories, these women changed the world.

We are thrilled that Monica McWilliams will be introducing the film and providing some context of the feminist movement in Northern Ireland. Monica cofounded the Northern Ireland Woman's Coalition in 1996 and was a central voice in the Northern Irish peace process, campaigning for women's rights throughout her career.

This film is screening as part of Hear Her Voice, a series of events highlighting the women in the museum's collections to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act which marks the first milestone in the journey of women’s suffrage, the right to vote in political elections.
