Victims, Collusion and the Past

15:00 - 18:00

 Facebook event page
6 University Square room 0G/006
BT7 1NN Belfast
4 victims telling their stories. One whose 12 year old sister was murdered in a sectarian bomb attack by the IRA. Another who had his father in law murdered in a sectarian shooting by a UVF Special Branch agent. Another whose son was allowed to be murdered by UVF Special Branch agents. Lastly a young Catholic man/son who was brutally murdered by the IRA.

Collusion has been proven in some of these terrible murders, that is, state involvement with terrorists and their murder campaigns. Allowing atrocities to take place and covering up in multiple murders by all the paramilitaries and state forces. Denials and lies exposed as the truth is laid bare. Protestants and Catholics, all victims telling their stories of… murders and their battles for truth and justice.

Alongside the victims there will be two award winning journalists both under death threats from paramilitaries, sharing their experiences of supporting victims and the daily dangers from paramilitaries because of their exposures of paramilitary murders and collusion. These are heart breaking stories that the state and justice system want to go away, but won't because of the bravery and resolve of those seeking truth and justice.

BRIEGE QUINN, her 21 year old son was murdered by 10 IRA thugs using iron bars. Every bone on his bone was broken. No one charged.
GARY MURRAY, 12 year old sister murdered by the IRA in a sectarian bomb attack.
MICHAEL MONAGHAN, his father in law murdered by a UVF Special Branch agent in a sectarian shooting. Collusion proven.
RAYMOND MCCORD, his 22 year old son Raymond Jr beaten to death with concrete blocks by UVF SPECIAL BRANCH agents. Collusion proven.
RICHARD SULLIVAN Sunday World editor, under death threats from paramilitary groups.
CIARAN BARNES Chief Reporter Sunday Life, under death threats from paramilitary groups.

This event will focus on how badly victims have been treated and the sectarianism of the IRA and UVF/UDA, alongside the failures of both Sinn Fein and the DUP in dealing with victims issues. Simply put, are victims used by these two parties without thought or compassion? If a victim is a person not a number on the electoral register, how can we seek justice for all the victims?
Free and open to the public. Everyone welcome.

Organised by Raymond McCord and Professor John Barry
