LIGHT UP THE ROAD – Shankill Lantern Parade 2017
• Big community participation highlight of Greater Shankill Winter Festival.
• Festive celebration to light up the Shankill Road with Lanterns and music.
Music Stage performances from 6:30. Lantern Parades from 6:45. Christmas Tree Lights at 8:15
On FRIDAY 1st December 2017, show off your community spirit in the LANTERN PARADES. Two parades portray wide neighbourhood involvement: one starts from Lower Shankill (Townsend Street) and one from Upper Shankill (Woodvale Avenue). The parades pick up some other lantern carriers at points along the way, as both go to the Mid Shankill finale performance at the Christmas Tree, where the event culminates with seasonal songs and the lights switch-on.
COME JOIN US: in the final week there are still opportunities to make lanterns in FREE workshops, for participation in the parade.
This includes an open-to-all workshop on Wednesday 29th afternoon (3.15-5.15) at B.2 [Nelson Memorial Church hall] right at the Christmas tree site. To find out about workshops, check Beat Carnival Facebook or contact Beat Carnival Centre
