We offer a PhD programme with a focus on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) available via distance learning (4-6 years part-time) or on-campus (3 years full-time; 4-6 years part-time).
The programme is tailored for ABA postgraduates, those who have completed a BACB approved course sequence and Board
Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA).
We welcome any topics related to behaviour anaysis, including applied behaviour analysis for education, inclusion, disability, and autism.

Other grants may be availble, e.g., through EU or other funding. Self-funding is also an option.
This PhD programme meets BACB requirements for BCBA-D (Option B ii), i.e., supervisors are BCBA-D. see bacb.com/bcba-d-requirements/
This research-based PhD with a focus on ABA can be taken
via distance learning (part-time only), provided suitable arrangements for support are in place, and the necessary resources are available at the student’s location.
This means that students do not have to relocate to Belfast but can conduct their research in their country of residence. Exact

In order to be eligible for PhD level study at QUB students should:
1. Have or expect to have a relevant first degree at 1st
class or 2.1 standard or a first degree 2:2 standard and a relevant Master’s degree, or equivalent for overseas degrees.
2. Have a commitment to and demonstrated some ability in

Evidence of an IELTS score of 6.5 (taken within the last 2 years), with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University, is required.
Places are limited and the selection of successful candidates
will be based on academic record, comments by academic
referees, the quality of the research proposal (2000 words), and supervisor availability.
Students for the ABA-based PhD must be certifed BCBAs (or at least have successfully completed a VCS).

Application for ABA-based PhD is the same as for any PhD at QUB, i.e., the programme structure and application process is the same, through online under Postgraduate Reearch. The difference comes from the topic and the fact that the supervisors who are BCBA-D. You need to mention this in your application.
