Justin Favela Artist Talk In Partnership with the MAC’s Public Programmes.
Justin Favela is a Las Vegas based artist working in the mediums of painting, sculpture and performance. His works play on the mythology surrounding Mexican- American culture. Favela uses cheap and easily available materials in his work — cardboard, tape, paper and glue – using the transparency of his production process to lure audiences into thinking about the racial, social and economic issues addressed through his work.
Recent exhibitions include ‘Tilting the Basin: Contemporary Art of Nevada’ at the Nevada Museum of Art in Reno, and ‘Con Cariño: Artists Inspired by Lowriders’, at the New Mexico Museum of Art.
In Partnership with the MAC’s Public Programmes.
Justin Favela is featured in The MAC’s exhibition, Shonky: The Aesthetics of Awkwardness, curated by John Walter for the Hayward Touring Curatorial Open.
